How to immerse your children in nature every day

It's never too early to introduce your children to the planet they live on. Immersing them in an outdoor environment teaches them about life and gives them an early idea about science. That's why nature preschool activities are a great way to encourage their further engagement with the world around them. Here are some perfect ways to immerse them in nature on a daily basis.

Have a Garden

You don't need a huge garden to better engage with nature. Whether you have a small garden plot on your landscape or a big greenhouse, you can show your child how to grow things. For example, according to gardening experts, tomatoes are the most popular vegetable grown in American gardens, and it's easy to do, so let your child help. They can understand the food-to-table process, as you can teach them about seedlings, planting, hydration, harvesting, and how you later cook it.

Go Camping

What better way to immerse yourself outdoors and bond with your child than camping? According to the University of Arizona, by age three, most children have the rudiments of some problem-solving strategies and can use them in the right situation. A camping trip presents valuable learning opportunities. For example, they may be able to help put the tent up, prepare food, learn to fish, and more.

Take Hikes

Take advantage of the various hiking trails available near you. It's a great way to exercise and see if your child can identify certain plants. Many hiking locations also have natural wildlife roaming around. Your children can learn about the local birds, foxes, squirrels, wildfowl, and more. It's also a wonderful way for them to build their vocabulary as it pertains to the ecosystem they live in. Nature preschool activities in a quality academic program build a young one's understanding of their world.

Plant a Tree

Trees are essential to life, so teach your child how to plant one. You can also discuss what trees bring to the environment, such as oxygen production and shade. This can open up their wonderment and interest in the wildlife that lives in forests and jungles. As you can see, you have many ways to merge your child into the natural world around them. Having an understanding of the world from a young age will benefit them well into adulthood and teach them self-sufficiency.
